If you regret getting a tattoo, old or new, it no longer needs to be permanent.

The Spectra XT is a state of the art laser for tattoo removal. It is currently one of the safest and most advanced lasers using industry gold standard Q-switch multiple wavelength laser technology to remove black and multi-coloured tattoos. The removal procedure is safe and fast.

In the past, tattoo removal was a surgical process that would often leave a scar. However, laser technology used for tattoo removal has improved significantly over the years, delivering energy very rapidly, which means there is minimal heating, resulting in less chance of skin damage.

Tattoos are made up of ink that has been placed into the deeper layer of the skin, the dermis. This layer of skin is not shed like the upper layers of your skin, but remains in place, therefore making tattoos permanent. In order to remove them, the cells that hold the ink have to be removed.

Removal of a tattoo depends on the principle of selective photothermolysis; when the proper wavelength is applied the ink absorbs the energy preferentially, causing it to break down. The body’s natural healing processes remove broken down pigment over time. Surrounding tissue is largely unaffected, but not entirely spared, so tattoo removal can be uncomfortable for patients. Numerous sessions are required to maximize results.

Virtually all tattoos can be treated including both amateur and professional, however tattoos are highly variable with professional tattoos generally requiring more treatments. The only way to know what results you can expect and how long they may take to remove is to book a tattoo removal consultation.
